Diagnosed with autism at the age of two, Jason McElwain, or J-Mac as his friends call him, is now considered highly functional, "normal like everybody else."
He was always at practice, but he did more than just set up the clock, get water and be enthusiastic! In his last 3 years, he missed only one game, but only had one chance at play with the Varsity team.
In the final home game of the season, with only 4:19 left as Greece Athena competed against Spencerport, Jason's coach put him in the game. Jason scored 20 points, but it wasn't about the points...it was about his dream, and what he accomplished in the lives of other students and his team. J-Mac's story was purchased by Columbia Pictures to be made into a major motion picture. J-Mac has also written a book, "The Game of My Life: A True Story of Challenge, Triumph and Growing Up Autistic"
