This short motivational video opens with a man seated next to steps in a public area. He is dressed well, and he has a cardboard sign next to him that reads, "I'm blind. Please help." One or two people drop coins as they pass by. Then a business lady takes notice of him. She walks over, grabs a pen from inside her jacket, turns the cardboard sign over and re-writes something new on it. This man, being blind, feels the feet of the woman to know who she is. She finishes writing, and carefully places the sign in the man's hands, and walks off. We don't see what's on the sign. Suddenly many people read the sign, drop money for this man, who collects the coins and places them in his can.
Later in the day, the same business lady stops by the man to see how he's doing. He recognizes her by feeling her feet. "What did you do to my sign?", he asks. With compassion, she places her hands on his shoulder saying, "I wrote the same thing, but different words." He thanks her as she walks off. Then we finally see the words on the sign, "It's a beautiful day, and I can't see it."
Words can be quite powerful. In sales, I can tell people about my services in various ways, talking about the benefits, or the cost, or the results of using my services (or I can whine about other things!). It's amazing the dramatic change in results, simply by using words of optimism and hope, rather than words of a beggar.
