The Man on the Moon - Best Motivational Videos

When I was young, I was told that there was a man on the moon. I looked for him in the night skies when the moon was full. Well...apparently this girl found him!

This short motivational video for John Lewis, a department store with online shopping which includes fashion, housewares, sports and electrical items, is amazing!

This inspirational video opens with a sister and brother hanging out in the living room. The girl gets up to look through the telescope at the sky and finds the moon. She continues to focus the telescope, so that it pushes in closer and closer to the surface of the moon. In her amazement, she sees a small white house next to a crater, with an old man walking outside of his house. He's a bit lonely. The little girl waves to him from her living room, so excited.

The next day she makes a beeline on her scooter to get home. Before heading back to school the next morning, while eating her breakfast with one hand, she again looks through the telescope to see if he is still there. She sees him sitting on a bench, all alone, looking out towards the earth. We get a close up of his aged eyes, longing, hurting, a bit lonely.

Even while this little girl is in the back seat of the car, she looks longingly towards the sky at night, thinking about the Man on the Moon. When she gets home, she runs upstairs and writes a letter to him. She tries several attempts to get this letter to the moon: a paper airplane launched out the second floor window, shooting an arrow with the letter wrapped around it.

She is frustrated, and he is lonely still, sitting on the park bench on the moon, bowing his head. The screen fades to black.

It's now Christmas morning. The girl celebrates with her family, opening gifts, having friends over, and giving her Mom a big hug, dancing to the excitement. The man is still on the park bench with his head down.

Then all of the sudden, in this monochrome atmosphere of the moonscape, we see a bright red gift suspended by multiple colored balloons. Excited, this man opens the gift. It's a telescope to see back to this little town; first, the town square, then, the little girl waving at him. He even sheds a tear of joy.

The analogy is so powerful...older people and younger people share love for one another, and during this holiday season, don't forget those who have been abandoned by society. Share with someone. As one who spends a lot of time with older people in nursing homes, this is quite beautiful.

Are you looking to create a concept, like John Lewis has done here, so that many people are aware of your brand (in this case, an online retailer)? Our team can help. I'll even provide tup to one hour free, listening to your objectives, the results you want to achieve, and making a creative sketch of how to tell the story. If you like the approach, we'll do business. If you don't like it, the initlal 30 minutes if free!
