How Much Does a Video Cost in 5 Steps

Clients often want a straightforward answer, but buying a video is like buying a house — not all houses cost the same. For corporate and documentary video, expect a range of $9,000–$75,000. That's a wide variance, driven by five key factors:

1. Length: There's no universal "rate per minute" across different video types. A 10-minute training video might run $25,000 ($2,500/min) due to multiple shoot days and a six-person crew. A 14-minute international documentary can reach $42,000 ($3,000/min) with travel, translation, and extended editing. A 3-minute motivational video might cost $9,000 ($3,000/min) with stock footage and a smaller crew. The type of video determines the rate, not just the length.

2. Crew: At minimum, you need three people: a Producer (oversees messaging, budget and direction), a Cameraman/Cinematographer (handles composition, audio, and lighting on smaller shoots), and an Editor (handles cuts, graphics, and color correction). Larger productions add writers, translators, audio engineers, makeup artists, grips, and production assistants — potentially 12+ people, each with a day rate.

3. Gear: Equipment is typically a separate line item from crew. This includes cameras, tripods, lighting, microphones, recording gear, and grip supplies. Editing systems and studio time also factor in. Most gear is rented at a day rate.

4. Talent: Professional actors and voice talent follow industry-standard fees. For international productions, add translation and transcription costs. Even when on-camera talent is non-professional, professional voice talent is always recommended.

5. Location: Shooting outside your area adds travel costs. A cost-effective approach is flying only the lead Producer and hiring local camera operators. Budget for airfare, per diem, and travel visas for international shoots. Some locations require permits.

The bottom line: a professional production company will provide a detailed line-item estimate upfront — no surprises. Bringing Stories to Life That Actually Get Results

What I love most about what I do is the collaboration — working alongside talented creative teams to turn a client's vision into something that truly resonates. For me, a great production isn't just about looking polished; it's about delivering real outcomes.

Whether it's capturing the heart of an organization's mission, driving a sales effort, simplifying a complex message for customers, or showcasing the value of a service — I bring a strategic eye and a genuine passion for storytelling to every project.

The results speak for themselves. One of my favorite moments in this work came when a client pulled me aside and told me, "This is the best tool we've had in over 22 years to tell our story." That's exactly the kind of impact I'm here to create.

If you're looking for a partner who takes your vision seriously and makes the process enjoyable, let's talk.
