We believe we can be anything that we wanted to be when we're young, as it's so well illustrated in this motivational video.
This motivational video for Commonwealth Bank of Australia opens with the song lyrics, "We could have been anything we wanted to be", with a boy floating in a space station, looking out at planet earth. The lyrics continue, "...and it's not too late to change", with the visuals continuing with two young people driving an ambulance. Then we see young people who years later will be medical professionals rushing a patient through the hospital hallways, administering life giving fluids. Next we're in a rescue helicopter dropping men by rope to the top of a high-rise on a mission. The lyrics continue, "I'd be delighted to give it some thought." "We all agree that we really ought to..." showing young people as military Special Forces breaking into a building.
Then we're in a high end restaurant kitchen with a crew of young chefs, and then in a performance with two fighting knights, one of whom pulls off the mask to reveal that she's a girl. We're whisked to a production set where a child director calls 'cut', and rushes onto the set to make changes with the child actors, instructing the talent. The lyrics continue, "...because the decision is ours." We see young people as fashion artists, firemen, lab technicians, a veterinarian, on and on with the dreams of young people who want to be good at their chosen profession, as the pace of the music quickens.
We then see the caption, "When we were young, we believed we could." We then see a young boy opening the door to his home, and as his child friends leave, he becomes a man, experiencing the dreams of owning his own home. The captions read, "It's never too late to believe we can."
The truth is that we can dream about what we can be at any age, and then achieve that goal; who says it has to end when we grow up?
