It all started when many in the community began complaining about higher taxes that would result from additional funding to keep the library open. In response to this negative campaign, an independent group started their own 'story', an attention-getting Book Burning campaign. It attracted Social Media conversations immediately. Then once it reached the tipping point, with a twist this group changed the conversation completely and re-captured the attention of the media, Facebook conversations and voters with this phrase: "A vote against the library is like a vote to burn books."
In my opinion, this is very smart use of social media, entertainment and items for sale to move an entire community to action! Complacency was replaced with passion by the voters - lack of funding replaced with people willing to help out!
